Kathleen Ethel Crump was born in Cumberland, Virginia on February 24, 1944. She was the daughter of the late Catherine Crump. Kathleen was a graduate of the Luther P. Jackson High School in Cumberland, VA. Kathleen accepted Jesus Christ at an early age at the Center Union Baptist Church. She was an active member of the Center Union Baptist Usher Board Ministry for 63 years, where currently she was the President. She also was the Secretary for the Sunday School. Kathleen loved to sing and used her talents with the following choirs: Community Gospel Singers, Center Union Baptist Inspirational Chorus and helping with the Bethlehem Baptist Church Choir. Kathleen was a great cook for her family and church family. She was the President of the church hospitality committee for numerous years. She was known for her specialty making "potato salad" for church events and family events in reality she should have sold it in stores. Kathleen worked for numerous families for many years, The Baldwins, The Hostellars, The Jones and The Parson Families. Early Friday Morning, May 1, 2020 at her home, the angels peacefully and quietly came and got her, and she received her wings. Kathleen was preceded in death by four sisters and seven brothers. She leaves to cherish fond memories: Edward Crump (reared as her son); a devoted daughter, Vanessa Dotson (Roger, who she took as her son and referred to her as "Kitty"); one brother, Linwood Crump, Richmond, VA; one sister, Emma Jones, Cumberland, VA; sister-in-law, Parena Crump, and a host of numerous nieces, a special niece, Lisa Fleming, who called her "Granny"; nephews, cousins, one devoted, Mrs. Lillian Motley; friends, two devoted, Mrs. Wanda Evans (Clyde); Mrs. Pearl Smith (known as Booker Smith's wife); and a devoted, caring and loving special friend, Deacon Morris Nash, who called Kathleen his "Baby Cakes".
