Earl Price Hicks was born into this life on August 19, 1939 to the Union of George and Lena Hicks in Powhatan, Virginia. He spent his childhood years in Powhatan where he accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Little Zion Baptist Church. After graduating from Pocahontas High School in 1958, Earl joined the United States Army where he honorably served this nation for 30 years. Early in his military career, Earl met and married the love of his life, Annie Cile Yelverton. Earl and Cile were devoted to each other and their family over the next 50 years. Earl spent 30 distinguished years in the United States Army. During his military service, his accomplishments were many and significant. He was honored with a Purple Heart for being wounded in combat and received a Bronze Star with Valor under fire while fighting in the Vietnam War. His achievement of excellence was evidenced by his ascent to the highest Non-Commissioned Officer rank in the Army, Command Sergeant Major. His career also allowed him to see the world, as he spent many years in Europe, with fond memories from New Ulm, Darmstadt, Bamberg, Herzo Base and Wertheim. His service and contributions were significant and he earned the highest honor of 33rd degree Masonary in 1976. At time of his calling, he served as Deputy Grandmaster of the Historical Grand Lodge in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Earl had a love for beautiful fast cars. In 2006, Earl retired and move to Stone Mountain, Georgia from Richmond, Virginia where he resided until the lord called him home on March 5, 2012.
