Pauline Hill Trent Obituary

Pauline Janet Hill was born on July 15, 1940 in Powhatan, Virginia to Samuel Jasey Hill and Helen Holloway Hill.

Pauline gave her life to Christ at a young age. She grew up attending Little Zion Baptist Church with her parents and siblings. She was the Matriarch of the original prayer band. Later in life, she joined Reed Rock Baptist Church where she became an Evangelist and associate minister.

Pauline and Franklin married on December 25, 1956. They shared a love of community, family and God. In their later years, they loved to travel. A couple of their favorite places were Canada and Chicago. Although Pauline didn't have a license, it didn't stop her from being on the go. She was a road warrior.

Pauline had numerous jobs throughout her life. She worked at the Craddock-Terry shoe factory in Farmville and at a tobacco warehouse. She also did domestic housework for more than thirty years, primarily for the Reed Family.

She would help anyone in need, in any way possible and always through prayer. A prayer warrior. She was on the phone every morning at 5am praying until she began to fall ill towards the end of 2021. Over the last 4 years she still remained faithful in her prayers, went to church and loved to sing songs of worship.

Pauline was a mom, grandma, great grandma, aunt, and more. She was a pillar in the community, always fighting for what was right as an activist. She was a strong woman who stood on family, faith, and community. If you knew her, you were blessed to say that you met an Angel on Earth.

On Wednesday January 22, 2025, God called his angel, Pauline Janet Trent home. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Murray Franklin Deion Roosevelt Trent, her daughter, Mary Allen, son-in-law, David Woodson, and sisters, Lucille Brown, Helen Carter, Elizabeth Hill, and Dorothy Payne.

She leaves cherished memories with her son, Pastor Samuel Trent; her daughters, Reverend Sandra Gray (Everett), Apostle Paulette Woodson, Pastor Doris Yarborough (Gary), Arlean Johnson (Arthur), and one son in-law, Adolphus Allen. She also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren: DeCarlo Gray (Angelena), Sterling Gray, Darryl Trent Sr., (Jennifer), Michael Gray (Mellisa), Ashley Smith (Micah), Eric Trent, Markee Johnson, Braxton Trent, Jewel Yarborough, Ruby Yarborough, Gary Yarborough Jr., Deion Gray, Diamond Yarborough, and Caleb Trent; seven great grandchildren, Amari Gray, Darius Gray, Lydia Gray, Isaac Gray, Darryl Trent Jr., Eliza Gray, Elianna Yarborough; one sister, Sally Sanderson, two brothers, Jake Hill (Katherine) and Glenn Hill; one sister-in-law, Iola Bartee, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Her Journey's Just Begun

Don't think of her as gone away, her journey's just begun

Life holds so many facets; this earth is only one.

Just think of her as resting from the sorrows and the tears

in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and no years.

Think how she must be wishing that we could know today,

how nothing but our sadness can really pass away.

And think of her as living in the hearts of those she touched.

For nothing loved is ever lost and she was loved so much.»(Do not delete this line. It does not print. Text that is to appear on web must be entered before this line)
