Donald Monroe Gray was born on June 29, 1936, in Goochland, Virginia to Bennett Tinsley and Gertrude Gray.

Donald attended Goochland Public School.

Donald met the love of his life Ms. Susie Irene Trent and asked for her hand in marriage in 1957, and from this union were ten children were born, Joel Gray, Michael Gray, Donald Gray, Jr., Melvin Gray, Ashley Gray, Karen Gray, Donnie Gray, Jane Gray, Jean Gray, and Jessica Gray.

Donald drove a dump truck for Tommy Browning Construction for twenty five years and he loved every minute of being in his truck. He loved sweets, watching Nascar, and his favorite food was pig feet, pig ears and meatballs.

Donald departed this life on January 12, 2025, in Richmond at the Shalom Garden Health and Rehabilitation Center. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Jean Gray; two sons, Melvin and Joel Gray; brother, George Gray. He leaves to cherish his memories three sons, Michael, Donald Jr., and Ashley; four daughter; Karen, Donnie, Jane and Jessica Gray; eighteen grandchildren, Winter, Jovan, Chauntae, Eric, Brady, Doneal, Clyde, Lisheil, Jamario, Tyler, Greasia, Shannon, Cherie, Quentin, Donald Jr, III, Miles, Devon, and Morgan; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Maxine Watson; three nieces; a host of other relatives and friends.
