Obituary of Brenda Sheryl Smith

Please share a memory of Brenda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Obituary Brenda Sheryl Smith was born on February 10, 1952, in Paterson, New Jersey, to the union of Beverly Hill Smith and Minnie Virginia Taliaferro. Brenda attended Paterson Public Schools, and later graduated from Howard University with a Master's Degree in Art. She was an amazing artist, and her charcoal portraits were stunning. After graduation, Brenda spent a month touring Europe, visiting several countries. After touring Europe, Brenda returned home and taught in the Paterson Public School system for several years before opening her own daycare. She loved children and was a wonderful provider for working parents. Many of her children kept in touch and brought their own children to visit her. After her mother became ill, Brenda dedicated her life to caring for her until her passing in 2013. Brenda loved wildlife, the ocean, and horses. After moving to Virginia in 2006, she made it her cause to feed every bird, deer, and squirrel in the Commonwealth, becoming a regular at the local feed store. She loved taking trips to Chesapeake Bay and Chincoteague to see the wild horses. Brenda departed this life on January 7, 2025. She was preceded in death by; her parents, Minnie Virginia (Taliaferro) Smith and Beverly Hill Smith; three brothers, Beverly Hill Smith, Jr., Anthony Jonathan Smith, and Stanley Leon Smith; and one sister, Cynthia Adele Smith. She leaves to mourn one sister, Lisa Renee Smith of Cumberland, VA; five nieces, Yakema Smith, Rashonda Cannon, Tara Cannon, Marissa Smith (McKarey), and Nyla Guinea; three nephews, Previs Smith (Kim), Anthony Smith (Octavia), and Michael Council; great-nieces and great nephews, and a host of family and friends. "Don't Cry for Me" Don't cry for me, I will be okay. Heaven is my home now, and this is where I'll stay. Don't cry for me, I'm where I belong. I want you to be happy and try to stay strong. Don't cry for me, it was just my time. But I will see you someday on the other side. Don't cry for me, I am not alone. The angels are with me to welcome me home. Don't cry for me, for I have no fear. All my pain is gone, and Jesus took my tears. Don't cry for me. This is not the end. I'll be waiting here for you when we meet again. Acknowledgements The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all those who have shown their love during our time of bereavement. May God bless you and His love be yours to share.
