Dana Andrew Mahan Obituary

Dana Andrew Mahan was born on November 3, 1965 in Paterson, NJ. Dana is the son of Verna and Cecil Mahan. He was more than just a son, brother, or uncle — he was our friend, protector, and constant source of help and laughter.

Dana was a proud graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, where he actively participated in various sports. He went on to attend Arizona Western College, where he pursued his passion for football and baseball. A devoted Oakland Raiders fan, Dana could often be seen proudly wearing Raider’s gear throughout the football season and even long after it ended.

Dana had a love for life. Whether he was working with his hands, telling stories, or lending a helping hand, he made every moment brighter. His kindness and strength were unmatched to his family and friends. Dana was also fondly known as “True” by many of his close friends.

Prior to his health challenges, Dana was employed at the University of Virginia. In addition, he ran his own carpentry business over the years, showcasing his skill and dedication to his craft.

Our family mourns the loss of a remarkable man, who left us far too soon on January 2, 2025. Dana leaves behind family and friends who deeply cherished him. His spirit will forever remain in our hearts, and we will honor his memory each day. He is survived by his loving mother, Verna Jefferson (Mahan); his devoted father, Cecil Mahan; his sister, Alicia Mahan-Motz; his brother, Duane Mahan; four nieces, three nephews, cousins, and a host of dear friends
