Obituary of Royal "Baby" Douglas Booker

Please share a memory of Royal "Baby" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Obituary Royal "RD" Booker was born in Prince Edward County at Southside Community Hospital on Wednesday, February 6, 1991, to Susie Thornton Booker and Royal Booker. RD attended Cumberland County Public Schools. He graduated from Cumberland High School with the class "2009". He was baptized at an early age and joined the Tearwallet Baptist Church where his membership remained until his passing. He sang on the youth choir, member or the hospitality ministry and served as the church sexton. RD had the love for children and his three nephews loved him deeply and his friend's children because he never had any of his own. The children would let him know that he was the daddy they never had, and they all loved him. He learned in the latter years of his life about his biological father Thomas Brodie and his siblings. Royal, affectionately referred to as "Baby" by his mother, loved his family, and friends, and always wanted to be around them. Whenever his mom, sister and brother return home, someone was there visiting RD. RD went into the workforce at an early age of sixteen and started his first job at McDonald's and from there he worked for Hardees, Walmart, Envoy Nursing Home, Capital One, City of Richmond, Bojangles, Dollar General and last but not lease assistant manager with Wendy's. And he loved to travel and everywhere he went he never met a stranger and just to name a few places he went was Atlanta, Baltimore, Dallas, Daytona Beach, District of Columbia, Jamaica, Memphis, Miami, Myrtle Beach, Nassau Bahamas, New Orleans, New Jersey, New York, North Carlina, Oklahoma, Philadelphia, Princess Cayes Bahamas, Tampa and Vegas. Baby was a go getter, and he was one never to give up so easily. He didn't limit himself and lived his life to the fullest. Baby was real as real could get, dreamed big, loved adventures and wasn't afraid to try new things, easy to love, love unconditional. He was a strong confident person that always noticed the small things and had an eye for details. Baby loved to sing, plant flowers, cut grass, work on his car, craft and clean his room. Baby was a jack of all trades and master of none. RD was fiercely loyal to his family and friends. He was honest, funny and always kept it 100 % with you. He had a smile that would light up a room, he was sweet and easy to get along with but when you ruffled his feathers, he was forced to be reckoned with. It was never boring or a dull moment when he was around. God gave him a heart filled with compassion and kindness. And when he was in your presence, he felt that everyone needed to be cared for. Rd tried to make the world a better place, one deed at a time. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Susie E. Thornton, aunt Annie Thornton, cousin, Sheila T hornton Hardy, and Cynthia and Pamela Booker, uncles, Michael and Dwayne Booker. RD leaves to cherish his memories, parents, Susie Thornton, Royal Booker and Thomas Brodie; siblings, Royeshia Thornton Smith (Willie), Laquan Thornton, Todd Anderson (Jen), Marcus Brodie, Scott Anderson, Tonia Brockington, Sylvia Lewis, Ian Ford, Lisa Williams (Eric) and Adjowah Brodie; nephews, three devoted, Nehemiah Thornton, Nekhijah Thornton and Nasir Thornton, Aydin Brodie, and Jaeden Brockington, Brock and Brice Williams; nieces, two devoted, Egypt and Eshe Anderson, Bailey Williams, Janay Morse (Ryan), Destiny Lewis and Alyssa Brodie; god sisters, Shamonica Samuels and Shamonica Trent Dimmie; aunt, Florence Thornton; uncles, Laron Dabney, Lewis Brown (Karen), Wilson Booker (Gloria), and Paul Booker; grandparents, Betty Thornton Dabney (Robert), Harry Wiley and Ada Lee Booker; great uncles and aunts, two devoted, James Thornton (Linda), Taylor Thornton (Carolyn), Annie Minter (Clyde), Everlene Witcher, Tom Brooks (Virgie), Earl Brooks (Beverly), Robert Carter (Susie). God Has a Way of Showing Us God has a way of showing us, The beauty of life each day He knows the joy of giving love, he teaches us to pray. God has a way of showing us, that though the sun may shine, Some rain must fall into each life, at any given time. God has a way of showing us. That when our dear one slip away, T hey're only gone for a little while, and we'll meet again someday. God has a way of showing us, the path of life we trod, Is sometimes rough and sometimes smooth, It's in the hands of God.
