Obituary of John Ralph Tyree

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Obituary John Ralph Tyree Jr., the first-born child of John Tyree Sr., and Elsie Mae Gibson Tyree was born July 16, 1951, in Dillwyn Virginia. Raised by Christian parents and grandparents Ralph became a member of Zion Baptist Church at a very young age and remained a lifetime member. Ralph attended school in Buckingham County VA where he met and later married Katie Brown. One child, Petrina, was born to this union. Ralph later moved to New York, working briefly at New Rochelle Hospital, and joining the Army for a brief term; he then returned to where his heart led him, home to Dillwyn. After several different positions he later found passion in extermination and chemicals and ended his career with Terminix. Ralph enjoyed spending time with family and friends and watching sports. Being a dedicated supporter of the San Fransico 49ers, he cheered for the team through every victory and every challenge. Like the 49ers he never gave up, always facing life's challenges with courage, strength and believing better days were ahead. He enjoyed attending car shows and looked forward to the Super Chevy show annually. When alone his favorite pastime was doing crossword puzzles, he would sit for hours and hours often finishing puzzles and books in record time. He was called to his eternal resting place on November 20, 2024, at his home. He was preceded in death by this father. Ralph will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He leaves to cherish many fond memories: devoted wife, Katie; his dedicated daughter, Petrina; loving mother, Elsie; four brothers, Patrick Tyree (Dorothy), Curtis Tyree Sr., (Judy), Kent and Kim Tyree; one sister Brenda Tyree; three uncles, Bolden Gibson (Lidy), Giles Gibson (Mattie) and Moses Gibson (Martha) who was as close as a brother; three aunts, Margary Ivery, Margaret Jenerette and Clara Green; one Great Uncle, Russell Tyree; one Great Aunt Clancy Broadnax; sisters-in-law, Carrie Booker, Katherine Moore (Russ), Marion Scott, Sharon Madison, and Alice Randolph (Steve, who was like a brother); one Brother-in-law, Soloman Brown; devoted cousin David Booker; best friend Joe Bartee; a host of nieces and nephews who were dear to his heart and numerous other relatives, friends, and in-laws, including but not limited to, special Aunt Bettie Brown. As we say goodbye, we take comfort in knowing that Ralph is in the "ultimate endzone" surrounded by love, peace and most importantly no more pain. Life Lessons You may have thought I didn't see, or that I hadn't heard, Life lessons that you taught to me, But I got every word. Perhaps you thought I missed it all, and that we'd grow apart, But Dad, I picked up everything, it's written on my heart. Without you, Dad, I wouldn't be the woman I am today; You built a strong foundation No one can take away. I've grown up with your values, And I'm very glad I did; So, here's to you, dear father, From your forever grateful kid. Loving Daughter In Loving Memory of My Son In loving memory of my son, If roses grow in Heaven Lord, Please pick a bunch for me. Place them in my son's arms And tell him they're from me. Tell him that I love and miss him And when he turns to smile, Place a kiss upon his cheek And hold him for a while. Because remembering him is easy, I do it every day. But there is an ache within my heart that will never go away. Love Mom My Journey's Just Begun Katie! don't think of me as gone away, my journey's just begun Life holds so many facets, this earth was! only one. Just think of me as resting from the sorrows and the tears in a place of warmth and comfort, where there are no days and years. Think how I must be wishing that you could know today how nothing but our sadness can really pass away. And think of me as living in the hearts of those I touched… for nothing loved is ever lost and I was loved so much. Devoted Wife»(Do not delete this line. It does not print.
