William Franklin Jasper was born on March 27, 1944, to McKinley and Senia Jasper. He grew up in Amelia, Virginia where he graduated from Russel Grove High School. On August 30, 1969, he married the love of his life, Gail S. Brown. From this union they had one son Ron S. Jasper. Later in life they added to their family, one son Joshua L. Cox and a daughter Asheley G. Cox and two bonus daughters Rhonda R. Scott, and Tamara V. Nash, and bonus son, Dobbie Walton. In June of 1965, William was drafted and served in the U.S. Army where he completed a tour in Vietnam. He received several commendations including a Bronze Star and was a recipient of a Purple Heart. At an early age he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, where he was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Amelia, VA. After marriage he joined Greenbrier Baptist Church where he was lead guitarist. William was employed by UPS in 1971 until he retired, October 2001 (30 years). He had a passion for cars and was an honorary member of The Powhatan Cruizers, and as a teen he enjoyed playing the guitar and was a member of Jasper and the Bystander Band. He was a loving husband, and especially supported his wife's enthusiasm for the Dallas Cowboys football team. He was preceded in death by his parents and his four brothers, McKinley "Jake", Walter "Mickey", Roosevelt, and Lawrence Jasper, and godson, Rodney Taylor. On Thursday January 18, 2024, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loved ones, William Franklin Jasper (Papa) transitioned from labor to reward. His memory will live on through his wife Gail, children, Ron (Maris), Joshua, Asheley (Ashley), Rhonda ( James); and Tamara (Shane); grandchildren, Armani (Trey), N'dea, and A'mari; two great grandchildren, Jace and Prince; two sisters, Nannie Sheff of Marbury, Maryland and Emma Rodwell of Reading, Pennsylvania; devoted brother, George "Joe" Jasper (Robin) of Roselle, New Jersey; mother-in-law, Fannie Brown of Powhatan, Virginia; four sisters-in-law, Geraldine Key (Oscar) of Powhatan, Virginia, Diane Cox of Powhatan, Virginia, Mary Jasper and June Jasper of Amelia, Virginia; two brothers-in-law, Andrew Brown Sr (Denise) of Lebanon, Pennsylvania and Lonnie Brown, Sr. of Powhatan, Virginia; two godchildren, Ebony Fleming, Natalie Southers (Shaun; one devoted God daughter Adrian Fleming (Drew); A devoted cousin Freddie "Greg" Taylor a devoted friend Donnie Hargraves; his traveling barber, Maurice Tyler, Kim (mother of grandchildren), Tre (New York Giants NFL Team), his Gordonsville family, Papa Charles, Sheila, and A'Sharia White; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Acknowledgements The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, concern and kindness shown to them during this time of bereavement.
