Staff Sergeant Jahleel Cassett

Obituary of Staff Sergeant Jahleel Asian Cassett

Please share a memory of Staff Sergeant Jahleel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jahleel lived in many places throughout his life, Pleasantville, New Jersey; Cumberland, Virginia; Carmel, New York; Fort Walton Beach, Florida before his parents settled in Stafford, Virginia at the age of 7 where he attended Stafford County Public Schools. Jahleel graduated with honors from Mountain View High school before enlisting into the U.S. Army in 2014. Shortly after his career began, Jahleel met the woman he would marry, Yuliana (Rivera) Cassett at Fort Liberty in 2017. He quickly fell in love with Yuliana and his new children, Paola and Joniel. They later married in 2019. Jahleel was graced with ultimate blessing, his son Cayson. Jahleel was certified as a Chemical Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) technician, Jahleel achieved the rank of staff Sergeant Honorably serving nine years at several state-side and overseas units which included two tours at U>S> Army Garrison Youngsan in Seoul, Korea, as the Operations Readiness NCO and CBRN Non-Commission Officer in Charge (NCOIC); Fort Liberty, NC as the Initial Entry team leader; 270th Armor Regiment at Fort riley, Kansas as the Unit Readiness Non-Commission Officer and CBRN Subject Matter Expert (SME); 369 Armor Battalion at Fort Stewart, Georgia as CBRN NCOIC, Fort Sill Oklahoma as CBRN instructor at the time of his passing. Jahleel also served on deployment under NATO in support of Ukraine in Grefenwohr; Germany as the CBRN SME. Jahleel was a creative, adventurous soul. A true entertainer: he was quite a storyteller and, as a child, loved to draw, dance, sing, play games and drums. He seems to win every dance contest he entered. He also carried his drumsticks everywhere, and when told to leave them home he managed to always have a few pencils handy to beat on the headrest of his mom's car. Jahleel had many talents, and his interest grew as his exposure did. At 15 years old, he was a PADI certified scuba diver and inspiring class master. He thought he was on his way to beating his father until "Pop" sharpened his skills and shut that notion down. However, Jahleel never stopped trying. As an adult, Jahleel enjoyed watching anime and reading anime manga, comedy, riding his motorcycle, cooking, and making people laugh. He was preparing to enter a career in comedy and was a hip-hop lyricist who studied the history of the art form. Those who knew him were always delighted to hear the next hilarious lighthearted story that would have us falling off our chairs. On Sunday, September 24, 2023, Jahleel was called home to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Richard Peebles of Pleasantville, New Jersey. It is with heavy hearts and tremendous sadness that the family of Jahleel Asian Cassett announces his passing on September 24, 2023. Staff Sergeant Jahleel Cassett was a devoted and loving son, brother, husband, father, friend, U.S. Soldier, and so much more to the many who were blessed to interact with him. His presence will be deeply missed and joyfully remembered. Jahleel was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother, friend, and soldier; and so much more to the many who were blessed to interact with him. He was never one to say goodbye before departing. He always ended the conversation with "Peace" so he would not want us to say goodbye now. Instead, we honor him in his word by saying Peace King, Peace Jahleel, Peace Jiggy, Peace Son, Peace Bruh, Peace Daddy, grandson, nephew, cousin, love and son, on. We love you dearly and thank you for being you and sharing your love with us! Peace!! I Am Always With You When I am gone, release me, let me go. I have so many things to see and do, You mustn't tie yourself to me with too many tears, But be thankful we had so many good years. I gave you my love, and you can only guess, How much you've given me in happiness. I thank you for the love you have shown, But now it is time I traveled on alone. So, grieve for me a while, if grieve you must Then let your grief be comforted by trust, That it is only for a while that we must part, So, treasure the memories within your heart. I won't be far away for life goes on. And if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can't see or touch me, I will be near And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear, All my love around you soft and clear And then, when you come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and a "Welcome Home." Acknowledgements The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to one and all for caring and sharing during this very difficult time. Your kindness has, and continues to be, a source of comfort to us all. Thank you! Bless those who mourn, eternal God, with the comfort of your love that they may face each new day with hope and the certainty that nothing can be destroy the good that has been given.
