Obituary

Mrs. Kathleen Nelson Speas, 92, passed away Monday, September 25, 2023. She was born in Cumberland, VA, to James and Ada Nelson. She was a graduate of Hamilton High School, Cartersville, VA, and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She could be seen frequently at her jobs at Safeway, Bob's and Eddie's grocery stores.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 66 years, William Marlie Speas, three sisters, Effie, Reba, Isabel and four brothers, Butch, Josh, Dan, Noah.

She is survived by her son, Arthur Wayne Speas, godson, Frederick Nelson, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff and past travel nurses at Holly Manor Nursing Home.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. be at Marian Gray Thomas Funeral Home on Friday, September 29, 2023. Graveside service will be at 10a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

When I come to The End of The Road

When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me

I want no rites in a gloom filled room, why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little, but not for long and not with your head bowed low,

Remember the love that once we shared miss me but let me go.

For this journey we all must take, and each must go alone.

It's all part of the master plan a step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick at heart go to the friends we know.

Laugh at all the things we used to do miss me but let me go.
