Obituary of Jeffery Leon Johnson

Please share a memory of Jeffery to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jeff was born on April 15, 1973 to Johnnie Johnson Sr., and Ruth Ganell Mosby Johnson at MCV hospital in Richmond Virginia. He grew up in Cartersville, Virginia where he was reared in the Apostolic Church. He often gave special thanks to Bishop James Miller Jr., Jeff would say: "You will always be my Bishop!" Jeff moved to Powhatan Virginia where he attended Powhatan County Public Schools. He enjoyed being a strong player on the Powhatan High School football team. Jeff was also a scholar in high school and achieved a near perfect score on his SAT tests. After high school, he attended Virginia State University and Ferrum college. He worked many jobs including Security, where he traveled to many different states, and had the opportunity to meet celebrities from all over the world. He later moved to Washington, DC, where he lived for over 20 years. Jeff enjoyed traveling, fishing, and attending family gatherings. Jeff was a strong, lifelong, fan of his Washington Redskins football team. No one could ever sway him from supporting his most favorite NFL team. In his spare time, he loved putting the sunroof back on his Honda Accord and sitting out in his dad's yard relaxing in the cool breeze of the night or hanging out with his friends. Mostly, he enjoyed just being with his brothers at dad's house playing cards with his cousin Ike and friend Herb. Jeff was a loving son, brother and nephew; and a protective uncle, cousin, and friend. He was preceded in death by: Mother, Ruth Mosby Johnson. He leaves to cherish fond memories: father, Johnnie Lee Johnson Sr.; three brothers, Johnnie Johnson, Jr., (Barbara), Jerry Johnson (Patsy), James Johnson; two sisters, Veronica Johnson and Vanessa Johnson; niece, Stacey Smith (grand niece, Adriana); nephew, Derek Jackson; a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins; devoted friends, Danielle, John, Big G, Herb and a long list of friends from high school and college. Special thanks to our cousin, Nikeya Sykes, who traveled near and far countless times to be with him, and Kimberly Brown, whom he lived with for some time, and remained by his side until the very end. Today, we celebrate our brother and friend Big Jeff. In Loving Memory of our Wonderful Brother Of all the special gifts in life however great or small, to have you as our Brother was the greatest gift of all. May the winds of love blow softly and whisper in your ear "We love and miss you Brother and wish you were here" Deep in or hearts, your life is kept to love and cherish, not forget. No more tomorrows we can share but yesterdays are always there. A silent thought, a secret tear keeps your memory ever near in our hearts forever. The Family Brother Today is full of memories of our Brother laid to rest and every single one of them is filled with happiness. For you were someone special always such a joy to know and there was so much hurt when it was time to let you go. That's why this special message is sent to heaven above, for angels to take care of you and give you all our love. Acknowledgements The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all those who have supported us with cards, calls, texts, and prayers during our time of bereavement.
