Otis David Foster was born in Cumberland, Virginia on November 22nd, 1945, to Otis Foster and Dorothy Lovelean Brown. David accepted Christ at a young age and joined Mount Olive Baptist Church in Cumberland, Virginia.
He was employed at Burgess and Amp, Carrington, John W Daniels, and Southern Brick Construction Company. Due to illness, he retired.
He enjoyed relaxing at home on his porch when he was not taking care of his yard. He wanted his yard to look presentable, so he kept his grass cut and the hedges trimmed. He loved to watch the news, Steve Harvey, Judge Judy, Wheel of Fortune, Gun Smoke, and race cars.
On Thursday, April 6, 2023, David departed this life on earth. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis Foster and Dorothy Foster.
David Leaves to cherish fond memories; his wife of 49 years, Ophelia Foster, five children; Joseph (Ayana), Melissa, Sherrell (Terry), Shantel, Marcus (Tiara), eighteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, four sisters; Gracie, Lillian, Ardell (Glen), and Joyce (James), three brothers; Ervin (Marion), Curtis (Francis), Lonnie (Wilhelmenia), one uncle; Elmore Brown (Lucy) two aunts; Betty Brown, and Alice Gregory, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither shall there be any more crying, neither shall there be ay more pain; for the former things are passed away.
Revelations 21:4 KJV
The Master Called
I'm sorry I had to leave you.
My loved ones, also dear.
But you see, the Master called me
His voice was very clear! Come on
I had made my reservation.
A heaven bound ticket for one.
And I knew that He would call me
When He felt my work was done.
I know that your hearts are heavy
Because I have gone away.
But when the Master called me,
I knew I could not stay.
Yes, I'm sorry I had to leave you
My loved ones, oh so dear.
But you see the Master called me
And now I'm resting here.
Yes, I've crossed on over to glory
And to you all I say
Just stay in the hands of Jesus
And we'll meet again someday.
