Obituary of Geraldine Beatrice Brown

Please share a memory of Geraldine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Obituary Geraldine Beatrice Brown was born on April 1, 1944, to Frank and Mozelle Brown. Geraldine gave her life to Christ as a teenager, joining Little Zion Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until she graduated from Pocahontas High School and moved to New Jersey to live with her aunt. There she furthered her education in Business. After getting engaged and married to her childhood sweetheart, Edward, she moved to New York City. Jerri began working in sales as an employee of Gimbels & Lord & Taylor. She also did some modeling in fashion during the time she was there. After working there, she furthered her education and started her new career at Morrisania Hospital in the Bronx, in Administration, until she retired. Ed and Jerri moved to Central Islip, NY where they became members of the Hope Missionary Baptist Church where Jerri grew closer to Christ under the Leadership of Rev. Lemon. She continued to grow and mature in the Lord when she reconnected with Little Zion Baptist Church under the Pastorate and Leadership of Rev. Dr. Gregory L. Beechaum, Sr. Jerri was a Deaconess, one of the Mothers of the Church, Head of the Food Bank, and the Church Secretary. She faithfully attended Bible Study, Intercessory Prayer Line, and Sunday School. It was a blessing that she served the Kingdom of God in so many ways and was a gift to everyone. Learning scriptures and praying were two of her favorite things to do. As she learned, she shared with others. Jerri had so much love for the youth of the Church. On Sundays once seated, Jerri would soon be surrounded by the youths, they gave her the name "Mama Jerri." Family life was always a priority so let's not forget "the family vacations." She loved traveling abroad! Early Thursday morning, Jerri's Mansion was completed. As he has promised, Jesus came and took her by the hand, lead her to the "Gospel Ship" and "they went sailing through the Air." Jerri was preceded in death by her parents and brother Donald Brown. Jerri leaves to cherish her sweet memories: her husband, Edward Brown of 58 years; two daughters, Antoinette Brown, Zekia Brown; two grandchildren, Jazmine and Victor Brown; brothers, Frank Brown, Jr. (Lorraine) and Roger Brown (Candy); sisters, Minister Hazel Brown-Jackson (Walter), and Valerie Brown; Monica Taliaferro (Tony); sister in law, Elaine Brown; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. God-son Jawanza Foster; God Daughter; Brenda Sanderson; A special and devoted friend which she called a sister from another mother, Ann Palmore; Kisha Houston, who was a sister/friend; and our former Pastor from Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Central Islip, NY, Rev. Barbara Lemon. Acknowledgement We, the family of Deaconess Geraldine B. Brown express our sincere thanks and deep appreciation to all for the many acts of kindness and love you have displayed. Your thoughtfulness during this time of sorrow has been a source of consolation to us. May God forever bless and keep each of you in His loving care. https://www.youtube.com/live/d80vQyzp1RY?feature=share
