Obituary of Alma Jane Holman

Please share a memory of Alma to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Today we face one of life most difficult moments, the loss of someone so very special and precious to each one of us.

Alma Jane Holman, 73, was born in Buckingham County Virginia on July 21st, 1949. She was the daughter of Willie and Bertha Baker Booker. She was one of thirteen siblings. Alma attended Carter G. Woodson School.

Alma Jane was baptized and joined Ridgeway Baptist Church at an early age. In 1964, she married Percy Holman and to this union five children were born.

Alma Jane Booker Holman affectionately known as "Nan" was a happy and kind person making friends wherever she went. She had an infectious smile that drew you to her. She could be funny and make you laugh in a heartbeat. Alma Jane was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Alma Jane loved and adored her kids and grandkids. She nurtured them with all the passion a grandmother could give for her grandkids. She sacrificed her personal time to make sure they were OK and would do whatever she could to help them. Alma Jane Holman suddenly transitioned to her eternal home and heavenly reward on Saturday, December 24th, 2022, at 9:44 PM at Centra Hospital in Farmville, Virginia. Alma Jane will be reunited in heaven with two daughters, Mary and Gloria Holman, her parents, Willie, and Bertha Booker, two brothers: George and Ralph, niece, Sarah Booker and nephew, Nelson Booker.

She leaves to cherish fond memories, her faithful, loving, attentive, and devoted husband, Percy Holman "Bubba", one daughter; Linda Holman of Henrico, Virginia, two sons; Bobie "Goone" Holman (Demetria) Of Amelia, Virginia, Dennis Holman (Jennifer) of Cumberland, Virginia, a bonus son, Spencer Bartee of Farmville, Virginia; six grandchildren: Terrence, Kianna, Trevon, ShaVonna, Davon, and Dominique, four great grandchildren: Destinee, Terrence Jr., Tre'onna and Trevon Jr., Four sisters; Dorothy Woodson, Shirley Morris (Charles), Virginia Brown, Patsy Chambers, six brothers; Willie Booker, Jr., Vernell Booker, Charles Booker (Hattie) , Franklin Booker (Carrie), Ernie Booker (Lizzie), and Earnell Booker (Angie), one brother-in-law; James Holman (Alberta), sisters-in-law; Fannie Mae Hill (James), Odell Holman, Alberta Bartee (Edward), Virginia Holman, and a host of nieces, three devoted: Monica, Melissa, and Melinda, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

She will be truly missed, but we know that "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" to God be the glory!»

“A Few Request”

I went to be with the Lord and Heaven is like nothing I’ve ever seen,

It is something beyond explaining; you can’t begin to imagine think, or dream.

The Lord and I talked for a while, and we went over my life story.

How all the pieces fit together, and I marveled in the glory.

Everything made sense and I now understood His perfect plan,

“But I have a few requests Lord, if I possibly can,

Pour your love and mercy on my family Father; for I

 know they are hurting so,

They are filled with so much grief; it’s so hard to see me go.

Wrap your loving arms around them and fill them with your peace,

Let them know I am always with them and never let it cease.

Talk with them about their lives and to live each day as it is their last,

And to take any anger, resentment, or unforgiveness and leave it in the past.

Tell them to love one another and to treasure the simple things in life,

Like taking a walk, watching the sun come up, or go down at night.

Tell them when they do these things to think of me and

How proud I am as I watch from above.

At how the world is a better place now because of their love.

Tell them to keep all our memories tucked away deep inside.

And one day I will be here waiting, with my arms open wide.”

In loving memory

Mom

You never said goodbye.

You were gone before I knew it,

and only God knew why.

A million times I needed you,

A million times I cried.

If love alone could have saved you,

You never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly,

in death I love you still.

In my heart you hold a place,

that no one could ever fill.

It broke my heart to lose you,

but you didn’t go alone

For part of me went with you,

the day God took you home.

Family Messages

Message from husband “Bubba”

I was supposed to spend the rest of my life with you.

And then I realized you spent the rest of your life with me.

I smile because I know you love me till the day you went away.

And I will keep loving you till the day we are together again.

Message from son Bobie “Goone”

Gone from our Hands but never from our hearts.

She is dancing in heaven now.

No more pain or sorrow, watching over us for all our tomorrow’s.

Thank you for loving me and I love you forever.

Message from daughter-in-law Demetria “Metris”

Alma Jane, you gave me love from the first day I met you.

(I knocked at your door to ask for a cup of sugar)

you knew I just wanted to see your son “Goone”

I will continue to love him forever thank you for him.
