Obituary of Sybil Jermaine Bailey

Please share a memory of Sybil to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sybil Jermaine (Gittens) Bailey was born December 8, 1921 and migrated with her parents Henry and Isabelle Gittens from Panama to New York City. She was one of five children and has preceded in death by her parents and siblings Beryl, Malta, Daphne, Henry (Clarence), and Violet. Sybil was college educated and had a degree in Education and after graduation became a school teacher in New York City when she met her husband of 64 years Thomas Leroy Bailey. She committed herself to raising her children and being a loving mother, friend, and inspiration to anybody who knew her. She had class and a sense of humor and a smile that could defrost the coldest heart. Once moving from New York, she and her husband raised their family in Montclair, New Jersey. Education was paramount to her resulting in her leaving a legacy to her children with advanced degrees consisting of Ph d's and five children with Masters degrees. Sybil was saved and attended Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Cartersville, Virginia and she truly enjoyed sharing about the Lord in her actions, not just her words. She was loved by so many. Sybil leaves to cherish her memory: 9 children, Howard, Deidra, Monica, James, Cynthia, Lydia, Dianna, Donna, and Thomas and hosts of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren.
