Obituary of Myrtle Frances Washington

Mother Myrtle Washington, daughter of Gladys Price Robinson and Willie Leslie Taylor was born October 31, 1929, in Harlem, New York. She departed this life on September 21, 2022. Mother Myrtle Washington, born in Harlem New York, moved to Pennsylvania, then to Cartersville, VA, where she attended the historic Turkey Cock School. Mother Myrtle later moved to Richmond, VA attended and graduated from Catholic School. She became a seamstress making clothes for actors and actresses and a shoemaker. In Richmond, VA, on November 14, 1961, Mother Myrtle married the love of her life Bishop George Washington also deceased. She spent her retired years raising her grandchildren, chickens, guineas, and ducks. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and absolutely loved going to church and serving the Lord. Preceding her in death, Harold Jenkins (son), Ralph Junior (brother), Molly (sister), and Rosa (sister). Left to cherish her memory are Carolyn Witcher (daughter), four grandchildren, devoted granddaughter Carol Witcher, Renee Witcher, Nicole Davis, and Kevin Stokes. Ten great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
