Obituary
Obituary of Dorothy Virginia Brown
Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dorothy Dangerfield Brown was born on September 16, 1934, in Cumberland County, VA She lived a joyous life with her husband, family, and the many friends she made on her journey through life. Dorothy was a straightforward and caring person, who never met a stranger that she didn't joyfully share her wonderful home cooked meals with her wise and timely advice, or some age-old antidote from the many she had collected over the years. She loved cultivating her garden, fine clothes, collecting rare coins and being surrounded by the laughter and noise of her extended family and friends.
We are all going to miss her. Dorothy is survived by her four children, Jacqueline Craig (David), Edwin Braxton (Sinceray), Gregory Braxton and Vanessa Williams. She has thirteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Dorothy passed away on August 23, 2022, from complications due to Alzheimer's Disease. Dorothy is predeceased by her husband Eugene Brown, her parents, Carrie Lee Miller and Elijah Dangerfield, her brother Albert George Dangerfield, her daughter Barbara and grandson John Bullock. Our beloved Dorothy Virginia Brown was a wonderful mother who was always there when needed. She was truly the wind beneath our wings and our hero. Today, you are in a better place. We will always love you and cherish your memory...
In Loving Memory of Our Mother
Dorothy Dangerfield Brown
If Roses Grow in Heaven Lord
Please pick a bunch for me.
Place them in my Mother's arms
And tell her they're from me.
Tell her that I love and miss her
And when she turns to smile.
Place a kiss upon her cheek,
And hold her for a while.
Because remembering her is easy,
I do it every day.
But there is still an ache within our hearts that will never go away.
A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says, 'Grieve not for me.
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I am counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.
