Sylvia Romaine Holcomb Obituary

Evangelist Sylvia Romaine Trent Holcomb, born May 2, 1954, was the youngest daughter of Phillip and Beulah Booker Trent. She was a graduate of Cumberland County High School in Cumberland, Virginia. She was also a graduate of Beta Tech in Midlothian, VA. She worked at Millers Manufacturing Company for more than 30 years before she found her true calling as a caregiver, caring for and about others was a passion.

At the age of twelve, she joined Rocky Mount Baptist Church in Cumberland, VA and later joined Reed Rock Baptist Church in Amelia, VA. She served on the usher's ministry, choir and praise team. She also was a founding member of the Followers of Christ Prayer Band.

In April of 2000, she acknowledged her calling to the gospel ministry and was licensed to preach on June 10th, 2006 under the leadership and guidance of Reverend Eddie Giles. At the time of her passing, she was serving as an associate minister at Reed Rock Baptist Church.

If you have ever seen Evangelist Holcomb in church, then you more than possibly heard her in church. She wasn't afraid to give God all the praise and all the glory. Her motto was, "Let go and let God have his way!" And her favorite saying was Hallelujah!

Evangelist Holcomb slipped away to be with her heavenly father on August 9, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents and uncle, Robert Elliott Booker.

She leaves to cherish loving memories: husband, Christopher E. Holcomb of South Bend, Indiana; son, Kisma Crowder (LaShawnda); two grandchildren; Kaila and Zion, which were her heartbeats; sisters, Katherine Johnson and Velma Mayo; brothers, Hazel Trent (Gloria), Marshall Trent (Bonnie) and Alfred Trent (Bridgette) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

"Missing You Always"

You never said I'm leaving

You never said Goodbye.

You were gone before we knew it

And only God knows why.

In life I loved you dearly

In death I love you still.

In my heart I hold a place

That only you can fill.

It broke my heart to lose you

But you didn't go alone.

A part of me went with you

The day God took you home.

Love You! Mom, Kisma
