Obituary of Braxton Lorenzo Brooks

Please share a memory of Braxton to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John 14:2-3 (KJV) 2 In my father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. Braxton Lorenzo Brooks, affectionally known as 'Brad' was born in Farmville, Virginia, to Emma Maudelle Brooks on May 6, 1974, and was reared in Cumberland, VA, one of seven siblings and attended Cumberland County Schools. Over the years, Brad worked various jobs, and just to name a few; Scotts Constructions, Hampden Sydney College, Prince Edward High School, and Longwood University. Brad poured his heart and soul into his work and all the people Brad worked with absolutely admired him. Brad truly loved spending time with his siblings, and devoted friend Neil Scruggs. Passionately, Brad loved to listen to music, and bob his head from side to side in a 'Cool' kind of way! He loved watching his favorite football team, Washington Redskins, while eating Vienna sausages and chips. Brad was known as a quiet man, who would stand by the sidelines, and expressed his love for you in his own way. He loved colorful shoes, especially red ones and would step out with confidence. Brad's family gave him many nicknames such as 'Cool' and 'Deuce', he answered to both with a smile! He married Bettina Durrett Brooks, and from that union two children, Isaiah, and Olivia. Brad passed away suddenly on Monday, February 7, 2022, at the age of 47. God decided that he needed Brad and therefore he passed away without warning. His death has left all his family, friends, and all that had the opportunity of knowing him in absolute shock. Brad is preceded in death by his mother, Emma Maudelle Brooks, and sister Maureen Ogburn. He leaves to cherish his memories: two children Isaiah Brooks and Olivia Brooks, one sister, Darlene Brown; four brothers, Elnathan Brooks, Sr., (Jamie), Clarence Ogburn, Jr., Andrew Brooks (Monica), and Paul Brooks (Debra); one Aunt, Otelia Crump; host of nieces, one special niece (Tyesha Brooks), great nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins, friends, two special cousins (Antonio Brooks, and Karl Jackson), and a very special and dear friend, Jennifer Terry. A memorial service will be schedule later in honor of our beloved Brad. The Master Called I'm sorry I had to leave you. My loved ones, oh so dear. But you see, the master called me. His voice was very clear. I had made my reservation A heaven bound ticket for one And I knew that he would call me when he felt my work was done. I know that your hearts are heavy because I have gone away. But when the Master called me, I knew I could not stay. Yes, I'm sorry I had to leave you, My loved ones, oh so dear. But you see, the Master called me And, now I'm resting here. Yes! I've crossed over to Glory and to you all I say. Just stay in the hands of Jesus and we'll meet again someday. Author Unknown
