Obituary of Jaydon A. Pompey

Please share a memory of Jaydon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jaydon Pompey was born October 1, 2002 in Richmond, Virginia to Julius Pompey and Taryll Johnson. Jaydon attended Cumberland County schools and was a 2021 graduate of Cumberland High School. While in school he participated in various sports, especially football and was the captain of the Cumberland Dukes varsity football team. He played defense and offensive tackle. Jaydon accepted Christ and baptized when he was nine years old and joined New Hope Baptist Church. Jaydon was employed by Silk City Printing in Palmyra. During his free time, Jaydon was an ardent fan of the Minnesota Vikings football team. He also enjoyed fishing and playing video games. Jaydon was always willing to try his mother's new recipes and ate it all no matter how bad it was. He took pleasure in participating in family activities such as cookouts at his aunt Caroline's house and spending time with friends and classmates. At 6'4" inches, Jaydon was tall in stature, but had a humble heart and deeply cared for his family and others. He had a broad smile that melted his mommy's heart whenever he walked in the room. Jaydon was preceded in death by his father and great grandmother, Annie Johnson. He leaves to cherish fond memories: his mother, Taryll Johnson; step-father, Troy Garland; two brothers, Brandon Leabough and Jordon Crump; one sister. Hailey Crump, two bonus sisters, Alaya and Tacori Garland; grandparents, Percell Johnson, Ellen Haley, Sheila Crump (Aaron) and Cliff Pompey (Caroline); four uncles, Percell Johnson, Jr., Thomas Tatum, Marshall Pompey and Cliff Pompey; aunts, Summer Johnson-Gunn (Lawrence) and SharRon Johnson; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Son Not a day passes by that you don't cross our mind, Not all of you departed when you left our earth behind. You were gone before we knew it and only God knows why. It broke our hearts to lose you the day God took you home, but you didn't go alone son for apart of us went with you. In our heart there us a place that only you can hold, filled with loving memories more priceless than gold. We will meet again someday I know in a better place. I thank God, he made you my son while you were here on earth. Forever in our hearts Dear Brother, Your Memory Will Never Fade My dear brother now that you are gone, You're no longer here to share The bond we had together A bond of love and care. Yet somehow something tells me You are watching over me Now that from Worldly cares You finally are free. I miss you so very much, And my tears I cannot hide Yet, within my heart, I feel You are always by my side. Ever since you went away Life has never been the same Yet, it comforts me to know That one day we'll meet again. Love Brandon, Hailey, and Jorda
