Obituary of Joyce Ann Thurston

Joyce Ann Thurston, age 54, of Denver, CO departed this life on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at home in Denver. She is the daughter of Calvin D and the late Lorrine Mary (Sims) Thurston. Ms. Thurston is survived by her father, Calvin Duvor Thurston, Sr.; son, Shima Terna; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth; 2 loving grandchildren, Dayquan and Kadedra; sister Kim Thurston-Foster; 2 brothers, Calvin Duvor Thurston, Jr. and Michael Anthony Thurston; brother-in-law, Curtis Foster; sister-in-laws, Jeri Thurston and Gabriel Thurston, 5 aunts, Shirley Webb (Clarence), Caroline Johnson (John), Lillian Smith (Marvin), Edna Sims, and Evelyn Sims; 2 great aunts, Lillian Shelton and Neater Sims; 2 uncles, Howard Sims, Jr (Dorothy) and Ruben Taylor Sims (Verta). She also leaves her devoted friend Gene Bernath, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her remains rest at Marian Gray Thomas Funeral Home, Cumberland. Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 9 at 11:00 am at Tearwallet Baptist Church, Cumberland, VA with interment in the church cemetery.
