Annette Hubert Smith was born May 5, 1928, in Fluvanna County to Wilfred Dillie Hubert and Maude Payne Hubert. At an early age, Annette accepted Christ and joined Evergreen Baptist Church in Fluvanna and was educated in Fluvanna Public schools. Annette worked many years for the FBI in Washington D.C. until she retired. After retiring she moved to Powhatan County and joined Hollywood Baptist Church. She loved fellowshipping with her church family. In retirement she enjoyed her home and growing flowers. Annette also loved to spend time with her family, especially her nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Her favorite time was at Christmas when she would make homemade rolls, Hummingbird cake and Watergate salad. On Tuesday, June 21, 2021, Annette Smith departed this life at Bon Secours Hospice in Richmond. Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cornelius Smith, three brothers, and two sisters. She leaves to cherish fond memories three sisters, Gladys Lee and devoted brother-in-law Robert, of Powhatan, VA, Ruby Turner (Maurice) of Goochland, VA, and Margie Turner (Franklin) who was reared as her sister; a host of nephews and nieces, two devoted; Lanette Lee, and Amber Owens (David); two sisters in-law; Signora Hubert and Louise Hubert; two special friends, Ms. Geraldine Phillips, and Ms. Rita Stovall because she always loved their visits. Miss Me But Let Me Go When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom-filled room Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little but not too long And not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared Miss me but let me go. For this journey we all must take. And each must go alone It's all a part of the Master's plan A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart Go to the friends we know. And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss me but let me go.
