Obituary of Janie W. Johnson

Please share a memory of Janie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Janie Willis Johnson affectionaly known as, "Jennie", "Alice", "Al" and "Aliwishus" was born January 3, 1928 to Johnnie and Meaner (Jones) Willis in Cartersville, Virginia, Cumberland County. She peacefully passed away on June 1, 2021. Janie is the last of her immediate family to depart, as she was preceded in death by: her parents; only sibling, Martha Stovall; and her only child, Eugene A. Willis, Sr., whom she adored and was the pride and joy of her life. She was baptized at an early age. She attended the Cumberland County School System and began working at the age of 13 in a domestic compacity. After 30 years of dedicated service, at the age of 73, she retired from Allen and Rocks, Inc. However, she continued to work part-time, until the age of 80. Janie was a member of Trinity Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. A. Lincoln James and attended the Fountain of Deliverance Outreach Ministry under Bishop Lawrence Taylor until her health began to decline. Living her life to the fullest, she enjoyed dancing and she would say that she was, "Dropping it like it's hot." Janie enjoyed every moment with her family and friends going to the movies, church and with Ms. Joanne Wall to the Cat Theater and the Ebony Fashion Shows. Janie was a generous, caring and loveable person who took pride in whatever she did with a smile on her face. She opened her home to any and everyone. She leaves to cherish her memories: eight grandchildren, Denise Weaver of Arizona, Van Terry (Samuel) of Virginia, Jermaine Holley (Latoya), Eugene Willis, Jr. and Chanayia Willis of Georgia, Brandon Willis, Tracey Crosby and Stacey Crosby of Connecticut; twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; goddaughter, Brenda Spell; two devoted friends, Doris Spell and Joanne Wall and a host of family and friends. Another limb has fallen from our family tree. I keep hearing a voice that says, "Grieve not for me." Remember the best times, the laughter, the song. The good life I lived while I was strong. Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you. Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through. My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest. Remembering all, how I was truly blessed. Continue traditions, no matter how small. Go on with your life, don't worry about falls. I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin. Until the day comes, we're together again. "After Glow" I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an after glow of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave when life is done. -Unknown
