Obituary of Reuben Taylor Sims

Reuben Taylor Sims, the son of the late Howard and Queen Coy Sims, was born in Cumberland County, Virginia on September 21,1941. He was one of eleven children. He departed this life on November 29, 2010 at the VA Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.
He was baptized at an early age and joined Tearwallet Baptist Church. He was a devoted and Faithful member. He served on the Trustee Board. After school he moved to New Jersey and joined the United States Army. Where he served for several years with touring duties in Vietnam, Korea, and Germany.
In 1966 he was joined in wedlock to Verta Lee Murphy, who preceded him in death. After returning to Cumberland, Virginia, Taylor worked for many years for the Department of Corrections and later Cumberland County Public Schools as a school bus driver.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughter, Nadine Burr and Loretta Butler (Michael); fourteen grandchildren, two being devoted - Ronald Losey and Richard Losey (Dianarra); and nineteen great grandchildren, five step- children, Ricky Losey (Barbara), Carlton Losey (Angel), Michael Losey (Heather), Diana Losey, and Deborah Valetine; one brother, Howard Sims, Jr. (Dorothy); three sisters, Shirley Webb (Clarence), Caroline Johnson (John), and Lillian Smith (Marvin); two aunts, Neater
Sims and Lillian Shelton; four sisters -n-law, Enda and Evelyn Sims, Mary Baker and Donna Cunningham (Bernard); one brother-in-law, Calvin Thurston and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Four devoted friends, Earl Taylor, Sr., Earl Taylor, Jr., Bucky Taylor and a very close friend John Booker.
