Obituary of Ida Mae Jones

Please share a memory of Ida to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. II Corinthians 2:8 KJV Ida Mae Jones was born on April 25, 1938 in Cartersville, Virginia to the Late Willie Jones, Sr. and Mary Foster Jones. Ida entered eternal rest on June 30, 2020. She confessed Jesus Christ at an early age. She was baptized and attended New Hope Baptist Church in Cartersville, Virginia. Ida attended Luther P. Jackson High School in Cumberland, VA. She was employed by the University of VA where she worked for several years before leaving to do domestic work. Ida enjoyed cooking, bingo, singing in the church choir, decorating, and planting flowers. She was preceded in death by two children, Brenda, and Russell Jones; grandson, Mario Bell; son-in-law, SSgt. Darryl Booker; sister, Sally (John) Gilliam and brother-in-law, Robert Crump. She leaves to cherish fond memories: four sons, Jimmy Jones (Brenda), Archie Jones (Sherri), Linwood Jones and Kenny Jones; three daughters, Mary Jones, Carolyn Jones and Jeanne Booker; eighteen grandchildren and thirty-eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Willie Jones, Jr. (Catherine); one sister, Estelle Crump, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. God saw the road was rough, so he prepared a place for your mom to rest. He came to her on June 30, 2020 and said, "Ida it's time to come with me and rest." Your children have done their very best, but now you need to rest, and God knows best. Lovingly submitted by, Your children, Jimmy, Mary, Archie, Carolyn, Linwood, Jeanne, Kenny
