Obituary of Jean Shirley Redmond Harris

Our mother passed on March 28, 2020; comforted by her daughter Brenda and son Glen, at her daughters' home in Midlothian, VA. Known socially as Ms. Harris or Shirley, Jean Shirley Redmond was so much more. She raised five children: Steven (deceased), Clifford, Brenda, Vincent, and Glen single handedly by struggle, strength, care, compassion, and faith in God. Exceptionally intelligent, numbers and designs were two of her traits she passed onto those children. A professional seamstress and self-made horticulturist were early careers. Later she studied academics in nursing serving several years before entering corrections from which she retired. It's spring, her favorite time of year. She would have flowers everywhere at her home. "The prettiest yard in her area", she was often told. She's working Heavens' flower garden this year. Mom's friends were many. Survivors include Jean Bonaparte, Nash Booker, Minerva Fleming, Cleo Carter, and Josephine Boatwright. Gone before her includes Lucille Mathews, Mary Wade, Benny Wade, Robert Wade and Lloyd Hatcher. She spent the last days of her life being comfortable, doing whatever she felt until she passed. She has left a void unfilled in this world but has certainly filled the void that was missing in Heaven. She may now enjoy her real life as she rests in peace.
