Mae Rosa Hall was born the daughter of Annie and the late Otis Palmore in Richmond, VA. She passed peacefully, Thursday, February 20, 2020 at her home in Henrico, Virginia surrounded by her family. Mae was born November 23, 1950 in Richmond, Virginia. Mae accepted Christ in her life at an early age, often attending services with her mother and siblings. She graduated from Powhatan High School and attended the Medical College of Virginia-VCU School of Nursing. Mae graduated the Medical College of Virginia- VCU School of Nursing in 1975 and provided professional nursing care to those in need for over 40 years. In 1981, Mae married Clayton Hall Sr. and had a son Clayton, Jr. Mae spent her professional career at the Medical College of Virginia-VCU and The Virginia Home. At the Virginia Home, Mae served in many roles and retired from the location in 2017 where she had served and supported the needs of residents with irreversible physical disabilities. Mae not only worked at The Virginia Home, but she considered them her "bonus family" where she impacted the lives of the residents, staff and families as a Charge Nurse until she retired after 31 years. She believed in human kindness, peace, compassion and developing meaningful relationships with all she encountered. Mae loved photography, traveling, going to see the ocean/water, reading mystery novels, cruises, eating great seafood, enjoying live music at concerts with her sister and friends and bowling. Mae traveled with family and often with The Virginia Home on various trips and adventures. Mae was big on family and sprinkling her kindness to support others. Mae donated faithfully to organizations including United Negro College Fund, Make A Wish Foundation, American Kidney Fund, and Susan G. Komen for the Cure to name a few. She believed that everyone deserved support and opportunities no matter their circumstances. Throughout her life, Mae always had a sweet smile, enjoyed humor, displayed kindness and enjoyed the time shared with her son, Clayton Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Clayton Hall Jr. (Sarah) and granddaughter Mya Chanel; loving mother Annie Palmore; devoted brothers Eric (Deborah), Francis (Paulette) and Kenneth (Crystal) Palmore and devoted sister and dedicated caregiver Shirley Reavis (Feldman); nieces Erica, Kariama, Erin, and Chamille; nephew Paul; loving aunts, uncles and cousins and best friends Sara Jones, Adele Stinner, Tina Hendrick and Roberta Conyard. She was preceded in death by her father Otis Palmore, brother Leo Palmore, grandparents Bernard and Ada Palmore and grandmother Rosetta Smothers.
