Evalena Fox was born at St. Phillip Hospital located in Richmond Virginia on December 12, 1929. She was one of ten siblings born to the late James Henry and Ella Rebecca Fox. She was born into a Christian Family and during her early years participated in many programs that Mt. Pero Baptist Church offered, such as joining the choir and attending Sunday School. Shortly after graduating from Pocahontas High School, she moved to New York where she studied Cosmetology. After graduating from Cosmetology School, she worked as a dedicated operator for most of her adult life. Although she moved to New York and joined Amity Baptist Church. She was still faithful to her home church. At Amity, she taught Sunday School and later became the Superintendent of School. She continued to serve diligently in the church until she was called home. On Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Five Towns Premier Rehabilitation Center in New York "Eva", as she was fondly called, heard the call of her Heavenly Father and quietly slipped away. She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her beloved brother, John Henry Fox; two sisters: Hester Meyers and Ella Fox; one brother-in-law, Robert Capers; four nieces: Thelma Oliver, Sabrina Mclister, Olivia Wilson and Melanie Capers; seven nephews: Maurice Fox (preceded her in death), Charles Fox, Jr., Reginald Fox, Fred Fox, Joseph Oliver, Andrew Oliver, Christopher Fox and Jonathan Fox and a host of great nieces, great nephews and friends.
