David was born February 10, 1956, to the late Fannie B. Jackson and Lee Simmons. His stepfather John W. Jackson preceding him in death, in 2005.
David was born and raised in Cumberland County, Virginia. He received his High School diploma from Cumberland High School in June of 1974. At an early age, David established a relationship with his Lord and Savor Jesus Christ. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church where he sang with his cousins in the Cousin Gospel Singers group. They traveled throughout Virginia and Maryland singing the Lord's praises in song.
In July 1978, he was joined in marriage to Linda Boatwright. They moved from Richmond, Virginia
to California where David worked for Honeywell International for 24 years before returning to Virginia.
From their union, they were blessed with four children.
David leaves to cherish his memory his children: Nakeisha (Rashine), Andre, David Jr., and Tyrone; four
grandchildren: Ja'Shawn, Zy-aire, Zaniah, and Tyjee; his former wife Linda A. Simmons; and devoted nephews and nieces. He also leaves two brothers: Ottoway Simmons (Shelia), Victor Simmons (Lisa) and four sisters: Victoria Robinson (George), Joyce Jackson, Rona Hill (Douglass), and Danica Simmons. Also left, to cherish his memory are a host of other relatives and friends.
