Obituary of Doreatha Jackson

Doreatha Miller Jackson, daughter of the late John Edward Miller and Mary Hughes Miller was born March 12, 1934 in Cumberland County, Virginia. She was the baby of ten children. Eight siblings preceded her in death: Caroline, James Edward, Rosa, Mary Agnes, Lucy, John Morris, Judy and Joe; sons, Benjamin "Donnie" and Jerry O'Neal; grandson, Donielle Jackson. The angel of death visited her Tuesday, February 4 at 12:53 pm in room 109 of the Lucy Corr Village Center, Chesterfield, VA.
She was baptized at Old Green Creek Baptist Church in a pond near the home of Mrs. Mary Jones. Cornerstone Baptist Church became her church home many years ago.
In her early adult years Doreatha earned her GED. Her career consisted of being a factory worker and a secretary/office manager – at R. B. Jackson Pulpwood Co. Inc.
On July 5, 1951 she was joined in holy matrimony to Robert B. Jackson. To this union five children were born.
Sister Jackson had a passion for cooking, spoiling grandchildren and everyone else she came in contact with. Deaconess Jackson exhibited her special passion for caregiving through her work as a hospice volunteer. Also, over the years she served in the following capacities at CBC: Sang with the Jericho Gospel Singers, Several CBC choirs, Deaconess, Founder of the Nurses Unit, Trustee, Missionary, Usher, Pastor's Aid, Assistant Treasurer, Women's Ministry and Hospitality Committee.
Sister Jackson was a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, relative and special friend to many.
Her memory will be cherished by: her husband, Robert B. Jackson; two daughters, Saundra Smith (James) and Sheila Watkins; two sons, Robert L. Jackson and Thomas Reed (Brenda); twenty-two grandchildren, forty-four great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; step-son: J. Hurt; Goddaughter, Brittany Eanes; sister, Roxie B. Taylor; sisters-in-law, Gloria Miller Foster, Mitzi Jackson, Joyce Jackson, Christine Stokes-Oliver, Harriet L. Parker, Edith Valentine Jackson and Vivian Clark (George); a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Type Obit Here
