Obituary of David Thomas Hubbard

David Thomas Hubbard (Tom), the son of the late Sidney Lee Hubbard and Blanche Everlene Hubbard, was born on August 27, 1950 in Cumberland, Virginia. On January 26, 2020 the Angels came down and quietly carried him home after many years of illness as he peacefully slept at Guggenheimer Hospice Center in Lynchburg, VA. He attended Cumberland County Public Schools. At an early age he gave his life to Christ, and joined Cornerstone Baptist Church in Cumberland, VA where he remained a member. On July 8, 1972 he was united in marriage to Kathleen Trent and from this union one daughter was born, Tamonica. He worked at Westvaco, Holly Farms and his last employment was at Virginia Department of Transportation until his illness prevented him from working. He was a volunteer at the Cumberland Rescue Squad for many years. He enjoyed helping others in the community and had compassion for all. He was an avid hunter and loved to fish. David adored his family, especially his spoiled, devoted daughter and grandchildren. Preceding him in death: his parents and brothers, Elijah Hubbard, James Hubbard, Junious Hubbard and Joe Hubbard. He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Tamonica Scott (Travis); five grandchildren, Jaleel Hubbard of Norfolk, VA, Quincey Hubbard, O'Ryan Fowlkes, Teriah Scott and Travis Scott II, all of Cumberland, VA; one brother, his twin Aaron Hubbard (Ruby) of Farmville, VA; Sally Miller (Thomas), Martha Sims (Reginald), Shirley Banks, Vivian Sprague (James) and Lillie Foster all of Cumberland, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; a devoted friend, Mary Robertson, that he thought of as a daughter.
