Reverend Doctor Eugene Samuel Brown, Jr. was born in Baltimore, Maryland on November 28, 1933. He is preceded in death by his father, Eugene S. Brown, Sr.; mother, Dorothy B. Brown; brothers, Melvin and Carrol; sisters, Eleanor, Lillie Mae and Dorothy; and grandson, John H. Bullock, IV. Eugene possessed an immense value for education as evidenced by his continuous pursuit of higher learning. He went on to gain his Bachelor of Music from Morgan State University, Master of Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University, Master of Theology from Virginia Union University and his Doctorate in Theology from Boston University. He was a beloved music teacher in the Chesterfield County Public school system. He enhanced the lives of his students with his love of and passion for music. Eugene Brown proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. Eugene S. Brown, Jr. was first and foremost a true believer in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He served faithfully as a choir member, Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and ultimately an Ordained Minister. His lifestyle choices were reflections of his Christianity. He was a dedicated and loyal man who worked relentlessly to provide for his family. He was not a man to complain but believe intensely and whole-heartedly in the power of prayer to sustain him through life's troubles and trials. His generosity was incomparable. He would willingly give financially, an empathetic ear, or his time to those in need. He strove to live a quiet and peaceable life with all people. He was a true champion for our youth. One who consistently supported their efforts towards greater achievements. He encouraged them to be the best that they could possibly be. He was a man with compassion and conviction. A faithful man of prayer, purpose, and peace. Eugene departed this life on November 13, 2019 and is survived by his wife, Dorothy V. Brown; sons, Edwin (Sinceray) and Gregory; daughter, Barbara; two stepdaughters; sisters, Helen and Vera; grandchildren, Bianca (Edgar), Mâché (Bobby), DeAndra, Nadia, Darchelle (Dominick), Diana, Edwin, III (Crystal), Sierra, Sharda (Ryan) and Ivy; great-grandchildren, Ni'Kaiya, Ashley, Jaiden, Cheyenne, Turner, Christian, Dynadja, Destiny, Elijah, Xavier, Braxton, Kendall, Jordyn, Bexley and Rayden; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and church family. Reverend Dr. Eugene S. Brown, Jr., was lovingly known as "Poppy" to his grand and great-grandchildren and he will be truly missed.
