Obituary of Douglas Jerome Crump

Douglas "Doug" Jerome Crump, son of the late Betty Marie Booker and Thomas Edward Crump, was born in Cumberland, County Virginia on May 16, 1963. He attended Cumberland County Public Schools. Douglas has worked a variety of jobs throughout his life, which included brick masonry as well as working on agricultural farms. Douglas "Doug" loved his family and friends and was well-known in his community. He was a humble man with a smile that never met a stranger. He laughed and joked with those he came in contact with. Those who knew him, would say he was always on the move, but never complained. On the evening of August 24, 2019 with his daughter, aunt and his two sisters holding his hand, he departed this life at Johnston Willis Hospital in Richmond, VA. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and community. Our lives will be forever changed. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Short Crump and Parents. He leaves to cherish his memories; two daughters, Phyllis Davis and Santana Crump; two grandsons, Kha'lell and Jarrell McMeans, Jr., two sisters, Minnie Bolden (Late Clayton) and Emma Claytor (Clarence); two brothers, Eddie Crump (Gayle) and Howard Harris (Ursula); nine aunts, Nash Booker, Lesley Sims (James), Otelia Crump, Emma Lee Robinson (John), Dorothy Mae Brooks, Estell Trent, Kate Harrell, Nancy Monroe, Florine Monroe; four nieces, Ciera Russell (Christopher), Charmaine Harris, Martika Bolden, and Ericka Claytor; one nephew, Quenton Bolden; three great nephews, Chrishaun, Christian, and Caderius Russell, two great nieces, Shanell and Ashanti Harris, a devoted cousin, James Trent, a devoted friend Brian Justice, and a host of Family and Friends. We'll Always Love You, Dad!! Each day you strived to live; your body too weak to be. Your love will live forever, since your heart has set you free. Now you walk so bravely, you free the pain no more. Angels have come to guide you and bring you to Heaven's doors. Memories we'll hold so dearly, your smile, warmed our hearts. And through our lives you'll live, you touched so many parts. Hard days may be before us, It's all a part of God's plan. Why you left so soon, we may never understand. You'll be alone no longer, and you would tell us "Don't be sad." Please believe you were no burden, we'll always love you, dad!! Our lives have changed forever, Since the day you passed away.
