Obituary of Matilda Johnson

Matilda Johnson daughter of the late Frank Boatwright and Julia Woodson was born on June 15, 1938 in Cumberland County, Virginia. At an early age, Matilda was converted, baptized and joined Mount Olive Baptist Church of Cumberland, Virginia. Matilda attended Cumberland County Public School. In 1955 Matilda was joined in holy matrimony to Garland Johnson and they were blessed with six children. Matilda was a very quiet person and had love for all types of music. She loved to cook for her family and enjoyed their company. On Wednesday, August 14, 2019 she departed this life in Dillwyn, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Garland Johnson, one daughter Ida Johnson and two sons Oliver Johnson and Donald Johnson. She leaves many to cherish fond memories: one daughter, Lucy Johnson; two sons, Garland Johnson, Jr. and Maxwell Johnson; twelve grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren; one sister Rosa Boatwright; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and one devoted friend, Gary Booker.
