Obituary of Ida Catherine Jackson

Please share a memory of Ida to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ida "Catherine" Jackson was born December 7, 1941, to the late Charlie and Virgie Miles Jackson. She was the eighteenth of twenty-one children. At an early age she was converted, baptized and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She attended Powhatan County Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1961. She relocated to Long Island, New York and after living in New York for a short period of time, she returned to Powhatan, Virginia. Catherine was self-employed as a domestic worker for many years. She worked for several families where she formed valuable relationships... she was more than just an employee. Catherine loved spending time with her family and friends, so much so that she was also a caregiver for several of her siblings during their time of sickness. She loved cooking, which included one of her family's favorite dishes - potato salad. She also loved fishing, playing bid whist, sitting on her front porch drinking her cup of coffee and watching her favorite TV shows The Price is Right and Jeopardy. On Monday, July 15, 2019, she departed this life and gained her heavenly wings. She was preceded in death by; her daughter, Delicia N. Jackson and her siblings, Minerva, Earlene, Charlotte (Bea), Virgie, Alice, Adele, Mary, Lenell, William, Walter, Marshall, Bennie, Joseph, Roy and Charlie. Catherine leaves to cherish her fond memories: two devoted daughters, Catherine Jackson (Dennis) and Cindy Jackson (Odell); three grandchildren, Raequan, Ciara and Zayden; two sisters, Mahalia Turner and Maude Britt; two brothers, Arthur Jackson and Lawrence Jackson (Diane); one brother in law, Henry Taylor along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. YOU CAN ONLY HAVE ONE MOTHER You can only have one mother Patient kind and true; No other friend in all the world, Will be the same to you. When other friends forsake you, To mother you will return, For all her loving kindness, She asks nothing in return. As we look upon her picture, Sweet memories we recall, Of a face so full of sunshine, And a smile for one and all. Sweet Jesus, take this message, To our dear mother up above; Tell her how we miss her, And give her all our love. Love, Vonia and Cindy
