Obituary of DeCarlos Trevon Langhorne

Please share a memory of DeCarlos to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
DeCarlos Trevon Langhorne was born on July 8, 1995 in Farmville, Virginia to Charles O. Langhorne of Cumberland, VA and Tuwana D. Townes of Farmville, VA. DeCarlos attended Prince Edward County Public Schools and graduated from Cumberland County High School in May 2013. He was baptized and became a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church, where he studied the word of God and grew closer to the Lord. He joined the Marines Reserve after high school and was employed by Office Max. He loved sports and was a fan of the Boston Celtics, Duke and the Green Bay Packers. Some of his favorite hymns were "Hush, Somebody's Calling My Name" and "Cooling Water". He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted parents, Tuwana and Charles; his loving sister, Shantelle D. Liggon (Jamieyian); two caring brothers, Robert R. Townes (Luisa) and Charles O. Trent; two aunts, Maple Pervall of Cumberland, VA and Kimberly Kirkland (Roderick) of Woodbridge, VA; five uncles, Walter, Lester, George (Mary) and Wayne Langhorne all of Cumberland, VA and Robert M. Cordell Jr. of Charlottesville, VA; two nephews, Ja'Shaun and Ja'Twaun Liggon; maternal grandparents, Robert Cordell Sr. and Gladys Cordell of Chesterfield, VA; special extended family, the Woodson's of Arvonia, VA and a host of cousins, great uncles, great aunts, family and friends. DeCarlos was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Susie Langhorne and his cousin, Corey Pervall. The Last Request Dear Family and Friends, please don't say that I gave up, just say that I gave in; Don't say that I lost the battle, for it was God's war to lose or win. Please don't say how good I was, but that I did my best; Just say I tried to do what was right - to give the most I could, not less. Please don't give me wings or halos, that's for God to do; I want no more than I deserve, no extras, just my due. Please don't give me flowers, or talk in real hushed tones; Don't be concerned about me now, I'm well with God, I've made it home. Don't talk about what could have been; it's over and it's done; Just see to all of my family's needs, especially Mom, Dad, Shantelle, Robert, and Bubby. When you draw a picture of me, don't draw me as a saint; I've done some good, I've done some wrong, so use all of your paint. Not just the bright and light tones, use some gray and dark; In fact, don't put me down on canvas, paint me in your heart. Don't just remember the good times, but remember all the bad; For Life is full of many things, some happy and some sad. But if you must do something, then I have one last request Forgive me the wrongs I've done, and with the Love that's left Thank God for my soul's resting, Thank God for I've been blessed, Thank God for all who loved me, Praise God who loved me best. Love, The Family
