Bernard Crump, Sr., a son of the late John and Emma Mayo Crump was born on April 25, 1935 in Columbia, Virginia. He was reared in a home with the love and affection of his parents and ten siblings; Louis, Montgomery McArthur, Harry, John Robert, Willie David, Mary Alice Jones, Hazel, Virginia, Beatrice and Mattie Gomez. Bernard departed on December 24, 2018 after a brief illness. Bernard was known as a son, brother, uncle, great uncle, cousin, husband and father. He was affectionately called by his siblings, "Bunny" and by his children, "Dad". Bernard lived in Richmond, Virginia and Detroit, Michigan before establishing roots in New York City. In New York, Bernard met, and married Doris and they were blessed with three sons; Bernard, Jr. Shedric and Ezra. He was a member of Convent Avenue Baptist Church. Bernard was employed with Washington Beef Company until his retirement. Bernard loved nature (he could not stay in the house), family and sharing a good story. Bernard enjoyed people, smiles and hearing someone laugh. Bernard leaves to cherish his memories; loving sons, Bernard (wife), Joan and stepson Dennis, Shedric (wife) Janet, Ezra, grandson; Derek, sisters; Virginia, Beatrice and Mattie Mae, nieces; Diane, Carla and January, nephews; Robert (Robbie), Jerry, Tony, Anthony, Marcus, Gregory, (Antione, Lenny, Gerald, Alicia, Samelia), cousins, relatives and friends.
