Please share a memory of Delphine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Delphine Brown Dabney, the daughter of the late Percy and Willie Maude Scruggs Brown, was born in Cumberland, County Virginia on June 14, 1926. She lived in a loving home with six sisters and five brothers. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Savior and joined Petersville Baptist Church. She served on the Senior Choir Ministry, the Missionsary Ministry and the Usher's Ministry for over Thirty years where she also served as President. She attended Cumberland Training School. In the year of 1944, she met and married Isom Dabney; from this union, nine children were born. For most of her life, Delphine was a homemaker who not only reared her children but reared her grandchildren as well. She worked at different factories and with C-Pac in Cumberland, Virginia. Delphine was a very humble servant who loved God. She greeted everyone she met with kindness and her warm smile. She loved spending time with her family; whenever you saw her, she was always with one of her girls. Our mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt always made time for her family and she loved her church and church family. She supported and attended her church until the last two months. On September 29, 2018 Delphine peacefully went home to Glory. She was preceded in death by her husband, Isom Dabney; two children, two grandchildren, three brothers, and two sisters. She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters; Minister Helen Reed (Raymond), Deaconess Ethel Scruggs, Tressie Allen, (Robert), and Ann Maxine Brooks (Joe); three sons, James Dabney (Theresa), Ernest Dabney (Bernice), and Theodore Dabney (Brenda); twenty-two grandchildren; forty-nine great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; four sister, Dorothy Foster of Cumberland, Corrine Hatcher of New Jersey, Betty Brown of Cumberland, Alice Gregory of Richmond; two brothers, Percy Elmo Brown (Lucy) of Farmville and Royal Brown of Cumberland; one devoted niece Darlene Wilson of Richmond; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
