Obituary of Mollie Alease Phillips

Mollie Alease Miles Phillips was born January 16, 1925 in Powhatan County, Virginia to Lemon (Pulter) and Alice Gertrude Miles. Mollie departed this life on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at her home in Powhatan, Virginia.
She attended Powhatan County Public Schools and moved to Long Island, New York for employment, and then back to Richmond, Virginia in the early 1950's. Mollie formed valuable relationships with many families through her occupations. She was more than just an employee.
While living in Richmond, she met her husband Willie Phillips, Jr. The couple shared 53 years of marriage.
Mollie loved life, family, friends, and phone conversation. She had a unique wit and quick response to everything. Some of her saying were:
"Father everything You're given us, we always find a way to mess it up"….
"I can't talk now, but I'm a good listener"
"Half of the world don't know how the other half is listening"
"Don't you drown trying to save me"
"Thank you, Father,"
"And every night she would tell us
Don't forget to say your prayers and tell God thank you"
Mollie was born and reared in the Mount Pero Baptist Church, While living in Richmond she joined the Second Baptist Church as a Watch Care member for her place of spiritual growth. Mount Pero Baptist Church was "her church", where in 2010 she was ordained to serve as Deaconess.
Preceded in death by her husband, Willie Phillips, Jr; parents, Lemon & Alice Miles; siblings, Willie Miles, Alice Townes (Beverly), Sadie Nash (Rayfield), Virginia Miles, Lemon Miles, Jr., Alexander (Alec) Miles (Martha), and Gertrude Coles (Samuel); sister in law, Estelle Miles.
She leaves to cherish her memory; daughter, Hazel Brown; son, Cavell Phillips (Vanessa); brother, James Miles; grandchildren, Roger Hobson (Tracey), Joseph (JC) Brown, and Martrina Williams (Omar); great grandchildren, Stacey Alston (Omar), Randi Frye, Roger Hobson III, Omar Williams, Jr., and Justin Williams; great-great grandchildren; Justin Frye, Jr., Jordan Frye, Janae' Frye and Joshua Alston; niece, Crystal Grisby; nephews, Samuel Coles, Jr., and Gerald Townes; great nieces, Marsha Robinette, and Saida Coles; great nephews, Glenn Townes, Jason Berry and Na'aiem Devonte Coles-Fuller; special cousins, Mary Jones and Andrew Miles, special friends, Laura Evans, Mary Stanton, Viola Hobson, and Tammy Mack, and a host of family and friends.
