Obituary of Howard Anthony McKoy
Please share a memory of Howard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Howard A. McKoy, lovingly known as Tony, was born at Saint Lukes hospital in New York city on August 27, 1964 to Howard C. and Faye J. McKoy. He graduated from Hempstead, New York Public School where he later joined the custodial staff.
He joined Faith Baptist Church in Hempstead, Long Island under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. J. J. Howell in 1975 and was a faithful member until he relocated to Powhatan County. Tony joined Hollywood Baptist Church, served in the Music Ministry in the capacity as drummer for the Sanctuary Choir.
Cooking was one of his many passions along with doing cookouts. He would prepare a "grand spread" of various food to feed a multitude of people. Raising dogs of different breeds was another passion he enjoyed immensely.
Tony will be remembered for his warm, generous, giving spirit. He was always honest about his opinion on issues, which was appreciated by many. He gave of himself wholeheartedly to his family, friends, and co-workers; always believing that GOD richly blessed him for his heart gifts. Many times he sacrificed his needs, not only for the needs of others, but even for their desires.
He has been employed with Chesterfield County Public Schools since 2000, where he worked as Head Custodian at Tomahauk Creek Middle School. Tony entered into the loving arms of GOD the FATHER on Wednesday, September 8, 2010. Preceded him in death was his beloved son Anthony and his beloved mother, Rev. Faye J. McKoy.
He leaves to cherish his memory; a devoted son, Courey Jay McKoy of Powhatan; a devoted father, Howard C. McKoy of Powhatan; a grandson, Davon McKoy; a devoted aunt, Madie Wallace (Joe) of Powhatan; one uncle Donald McKoy of North Carolina; a great aunt, Velva Thompson; and a host of many devoted relatives and friends, one devoted, Juletta Tyson.
