Sarah Lee Johnson, daughter of the late Sallie Trent Johnson and Daniel A. Johnson, was born January 28, 1930. She passed away peacefully on February 13, 2018. At an early age Sarah was baptized and joined Rocky Mount Baptist Church. She later attended Messiah Baptist Church in East Orange, New Jersey where she resided. Sarah graduated from Cumberland Training School as Valedictorian of her class. She received a B.S. degree in Business Education from Virginia State College. She later attended Seton Hall University and received a teaching certificate from the state of New Jersey. She was employed as a Benefit Specialist for P. Ballantine and Sons Brewing Company and later as an executive assistant with The Berger Group, until her retirement. Sarah leaves to cherish in memory two sisters, Charlotte Johnson and Viola Johnson; nieces, Marion Taylor, Janice Sutton, Lillian Reaves, Adah Askew, Grace Ferrell, and Mary Johnson; nephews, Earl Dickerson, Robert Johnson, Herman Johnson, and Stanley Johnson; godson and special nephew Kevin Sledge, great-nephew Gaylord Sledge, special great-niece Allison Ferrell, sister-in-law Lottie Johnson, and a host of great nieces, great nephews, other relatives, and friends.
