Melcenia Emma Nash was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, October 2, 2017 at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital in Midlothian, Virginia. She was born on June 2, 1938 to the late Robert and Frances Simms of Powhatan, Virginia. At an early age, Melcenia accepted Christ, was baptized, and joined the Greenbrier Baptist Church of Powhatan, Virginia. She attended Mohemenco Elementary School on Bell Road and later attended Pocahontas Public School. On April 19, 1958, she was joined in holy matrimony to Willie N. Nash of Cartersville, Virginia. From this union, three sons and two daughters were born. Melcenia was employed as a domestic house worker for private families. Melcenia is preceded in death by her husband, Willie Nash, Sr.; one brother, Robert Simms, Jr.; and one sister, Dorothy S.Taylor. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Rita Nash (devoted and caregiver) and Karen Harris (Tony); three sons, Willie Nash, Jr. (Mary Scruggs-fiancee'), Ray Nash (Bernice), and Wayne Nash; five grandchildren, Shaun Nash (Jakia) of Waldorf, Maryland, Tony Harris, Jr. (Denise), Aaron Harris, Taylor Nash, and Orlando Nash; two great-grandchildren, Kellen and Kerrigan Nash; one brother, Pete Simms (Ercelle) of Powhatan, Virginia; five sisters; Mary Hite (Monore) of Newark, Delaware, Betty Nash, Evelyn Graham (Robert), Deborah Taylor, and Marlene Anderson (Garland) all of Powhatan, Virginia; one sister-inlaw, Mamie Nash of Goochland, Virginia; one devoted friend, Fannie Brown of Powhatan, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
