Obituary
Obituary of Clarence Giles
Please share a memory of Clarence to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Clarence Giles was born on April 5, 1951 in Cumberland County to the late Warner and Marinda Giles. He was called home to his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at St. Francis Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his sister, Pearl Booker Miller.
At an early age, Clarence accepted Christ and was baptized at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Cumberland County. He attended Pine Grove School in Cumberland County, Virginia.
Clarence loved life and had a passion for many things. He was an avid outdoorsman. He was well-known for his hikes up and down Route 60 pushing his wheel barrel Many would stop to offer him a ride, but he would decline
and give you that big wide grin and say, "I thank you just the same but, I'm alright."
He leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, Eric and Ronnie Giles of Cumberland, Virginia; a daughter, Nicole Giles of Cumberland, Virginia; two grandchildren; three sisters, Ora and Lee Hobson of Cumberland, Virginia and Christine Taylor of Richmond, Virginia (devoted); two brothers-in-law; Billy Hobson (devoted) and Peyton Hobson both of Cumberland, Virginia; one uncle, Junius James of Riverhead, New York; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and countless others whose lives he touched and inspired.
Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what's to be,
A resting place along the road
To sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things,
But never meant to stay…
Our destination is a place far greater than we know.
For some, the journey's quicker, for some, the journey's slow.
And when the journey finally ends,
We'll claim a great reward
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the Lord
