Obituary of Ora Bell Lewis

Ora Bell Lewis a daughter of the late John Marshall Blanton and Pauline Coy Blanton was born February 27, 1937 in Cumberland County, Virginia. She received her education in the Cumberland County Public School System. Ora met and married Ernest Bland and they moved to New Jersey. From this union two daughters were born, Shirley and Carolyn. Ora later relocated to Baltimore where she worked numerous jobs. She then met and married Charles Arrington. From that union, they were blessed with a daughter, Towanda and two sons, Leroy and Darrell. Ora worked at Union Memorial Hospital as an Anesthesia Technician for over 25 years. She later retired from the hospital and decided to return home to Virginia. While enjoying her golden years, she married Reylander Lewis who preceded her in death. As a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church, she served with the Missionary Ministry. Ora loved helping and taking care of others. She had a passion for flower gardening, maybe because she was like one of the most precious flowers. Ora was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Charles Arrington and Reylander Lewis; two sons, Leroy and Darrell; and a brother, John Blanton. On Wednesday, March 22, 2017 she departed this life at Chippenham Hospital, Richmond, Virginia . Ora leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Shirley (Nat), Carolyn (CT) and Towanda (Melvin); eight grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Elsie (John); a brother, Richard (Belinda); a daughter-in-law, Gwennie; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; a special niece, Teresa "Dewey"; and a special nephew, Tyrone.
