Obituary of Aubrey Motley
Please share a memory of Aubrey to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Aubrey Motley, Jr., a son of the late Aubrey Motley, Sr. and Gladys Trent Motley, was born in Richmond, Virginia on June 22, 1940.
At an early age, he was converted baptized and joined Second Baptist Church on Idlewood Avenue in Richmond, VA. He attended Randolph Elementary School and Maggie Walker High School in Richmond.
In 1998, he was joined in wedlock to Miss Lillian Crump. After marriage, he joined Center Union Baptist Church to be with his wife.
Aubrey was employed as a maintenance worker for Virginia Commonwealth University and Medical College of Virginia Hospital, retiring after 30 years of service. He later worked a part time job at Johnston-Willis Hospital in food service.
Aubrey and his wife enjoyed traveling and seeing new things. Their trips included the Bahamas and New Orleans, to name a few. He also enjoyed playing bingo and family gatherings, especially cook outs because he loved hot dogs and hamburgers.
Aubrey was a kind man who greeted everyone with a smile. He will be missed from our home, church, and community.
For about a year, Aubrey was in declining health and he departed this life on Sunday, February 26, 2017 in Chippenham Hospital, Richmond, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Leevern and Cephas.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving wife, Lillian Motley; a son, Darrell Motley; a daughter, Karen Motley; a step son, Crawford Crump (Doris); four grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; a brother, Frank Motley; a sister, Gladys Motley; sister-in-law, Pearl Macklin (James); four brothers-in-law, Thomas Crump (Carolyn), Arthur Crump (Phyllis), George Crump (Dale), and Freddie Crump (Bernice); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
