Please share a memory of Nannie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8 Nannie Victoria Sims Hatcher, daughter of Neater Taylor Sims and the late Aaron Garfield Sims was born February 15, 1948, in Cumberland, Virginia. She was reared in a loving, Christian home with five sisters, her parents, and grandparents. Nannie accepted Christ at an early age and joined Tearwallet Baptist Church, which she continued to support financially until her passing. When she relocated to New Jersey, Nannie joined Abyssinia Baptist Church and served faithfully as a member and usher. Nannie graduated from Luther P. Jackson High School in 1966. After which, she moved to New Jersey to begin her career. She was employed briefly in retail. The majority of her work history consisted of working in the field of electronics and information technology. She was employed with Western Electric, Lockheed Martin, and Lucent Technologies where she retired as a quality control department supervisor. In 1968, Nannie was joined in holy matrimony to Willie Douglas Hatcher. Nannie was a devoted wife, stepmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a very loving and caring person who unselfishly provided motherly advice, encouragement, and spiritual guidance to family members, as well as others. Although she has been removed from our presence, she remains in our hearts. On Tuesday, January 10, 2017, Nannie answered the call of her Master and quietly slipped into eternal rest. She will be greatly missed by her husband, family, and friends. Her memory will be cherished by her husband, Douglas; stepchildren, Andre` and Phyllis; her mother, Neater Sims; sisters, Juanita Crump of Richmond, VA; Dora Hatcher of Irvington, NJ; Dorothy Cosby (Garry) of Cumberland, VA; Linda Sims of Cumberland, VA; and Sherry Sims of Cumberland, VA. Sisters-in-law, Alice Manns and Mary Hatcher of Cumberland, VA; brother-in-law, Paulus Hatcher (Mary) of Cumberland, VA; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Affectionately known as "Vickie" to family and friends, she will be missed and remembered as an outgoing, hard-working, kind-hearted, and loving person who was eager to tell you about Christ and His goodness. To us, she is gone too soon, yet, we humbly bow to an all wise and knowing God. A precious one from us has gone, A voice we loved is stilled; A place is vacant in our home, Which never can be filled. God in His wisdom has recalled, And the boon His love has given. And though the body slumbers here, The soul is safe in heaven. The Family
