Please share a memory of Raleigh to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Raleigh Trent, a son of the late William Trent and Ivory Taylor Trent, was born on July 19, 1924 in Cumberland County, Virginia. He was reared in a home with loving parents and thirteen siblings.
Raleigh was converted, baptized, and joined Bethlehem Baptist Church in Cumberland. He attended public schools in Cumberland. While in school, Raleigh worked on the farm with his parents.
In 1949, he was joined in wedlock to Miss Annie Mae Booker; they shared 67 years together. After marriage, he and his family relocated to Riverhead, New York, where he found employment on a farm and later worked on a poultry farm until his retirement.
In 1997, he and his wife returned to Virginia to make their home. They then reunited with Bethlehem Baptist Church where they enjoyed attending services on Sundays. Raleigh was a hardworking man who enjoyed gardening, farming, and fishing.
Raleigh was preceded in death by his parents; ten siblings; four children, Lillie Mae, Benjamin, Leroy, and Tim.
He leaves to cherish fond memories: his wife, Annie Mae; seven children; Raleigh Jr., Mabel (Raymond), Yvonne (Lancaster), Tyrone (Jenny), Kisha (Ricky), Ramona (Frank), and Sirena (Willie); 28 grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Kirby and Shirley Smith; his youngest brother, Joseph Trent (Polly); four sisters-in-law, Queen Trent (Pascal Lee), Elizabeth Trent, Elsie Trent, and Kate Trent; a brother-in-law, Jack Booker; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
