After marriage, he and his family relocated to Riverhead, New York, where he found employment on a farm and later worked on a poultry farm until his retirement. In 1997, he and his wife returned to Virginia to make their home. They then reunited with Bethlehem Baptist Church where they enjoyed attending services on Sundays.
