Obituary
Obituary of Dorothy S. Palmer
Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dorothy Evans Palmer, a daughter of the late Henry Wade Evans and Mary Ann Langhorne Evans was born September 15, 1945 in Powhatan County, Virginia.
At an early age, she was baptized and joined Center Union Baptist Church in Cumberland, VA. Dorothy reunited with Center Union after moving back to Virginia from New York.
Dorothy was educated in the public schools in Powhatan County and Richmond, VA. After school, she relocated to New York to seek employment. She remained there for several years, later deciding to return to Virginia to be close to her family members and many friends.
Dorothy was too young to retire so she continued to work until her health no longer allowed her to work. She then retired from the US Postal Service in Richmond, VA.
Dorothy was a very independent person who was always willing to give a helping hand where needed, especially whenever there was a family function or church program. Her special dish was her delicious Corn Pudding by request. Dorothy loved caring for patients that needed assistance in health facilities. Dorothy loved life and lived it to the fullest. She loved traveling and doing whatever brought her happiness. The highlight of her enjoyment was when family and friends gathered for special occasions.
After a lengthy illness, she went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, October 27, 2016.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, Alphonso Evans and stepfather, Fred Beale.
She leaves to cherish her memory: a son whom she adored and loved dearly, Kenneth Evans (Celeste); grandsons, Jerrel, Jalen, Jamani and Jase Evans; granddaughters, Amanda Frazier (Tireak) and Ashley Wilson; great granddaughter McKenzie Frazier; sisters, Wenifred Beale aka Poopee, Laura Easterling (Grover); brothers, Henry Wade (Gloria) and Stanley Evans; Aunts, Pearl Smith and Nancy Moore (Samuel); stepmother, Laura Evans; god daughter, Nicole Purvis (Butch); numerous nieces, one devoted Chamary Beale and grand nieces, Deonii and Dior; nephews, cousins and friends.
A precious one from us has gone
A voice we loved is still,
A place is vacant in our hearts
Which never can be filled.
