Obituary of Robert Lee Daniel Woodson Gilliam

Mr. Robert Lee Daniel Woodson Gilliam, Jr. was born January 26, 1927 in Cumberland County, Virginia. At an early age he was converted baptized and joined Rising Zion Baptist Church. He attended the public schools in Cumberland. After school he moved to New York to seek employment. While in New York he attended Friendship Baptist Church. Robert was employed with the Riverhead School System as a custodian, from which he retired. In 1992 he and his wife returned to Virginia to make their home. Robert enjoyed reminiscing about old times, working in the yard and listening to Gospel music. On Monday, October 3, 2016 he departed this life at his residence in Cumberland, VA. He leaves to cherish his memory five sons, Robert Gilliam(Annette), Joseph Gilliam, Jerome Gilliam(Loretta),Sylvester Gilliam and Clarence Gilliam(Gloria); 7 daughters, Mary Trent(John), Paula Hart(Harry), Beatrice Williams, Linda Langhorne(Chris), Susie Gilliam, Bernice Gilliam, Renee' Gilliam; 2 grandchildren; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; a brother, Clarence Gilliam; 3 sisters, Gertrude Lane(Joe), Thelma Allen and Otelia Gilliam; 3 sisters-in-law, Ann Gilliam, Queen Trent(Pascal) and Ann Trent(Raleigh); a brother-in-law, Jack Booker; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
